Working!! Trailer: おいしい Yuri for Spring 2010

The official website for the Working!! anime premiering this April has posted a 107-second trailer. As mentioned previously, the Working!! anime, based on Takatsu Karino's 4-koma manga, follows the lives of the staff working at a family-style restaurant in Hokkaido, called Wagnaria. The trailer confirms that Todoroki Yachiyo (the bubbly blonde carrying the sword) has feelings for Shirafuji Kyouko, the manager of the restaurant. Will anything come of it? We'll see when it premieres this April. ^^

  1. One of the best things about Lesbians in this kind of show is that it cuts down on the harem load by having at least one of the girls interested in another girl.

  2. @Warpshadow - Seems a good mix of female/male characters so I would hope that that at least would kill the harem trope from emerging. I suspect there will be some form of love tangled mess (sorta like a love triangle only more chaotic and difficult to pick apart) though.

Looks fun however. Now if only I could understand more than one word in every handful... back to the books then. :|

  3. I hope it goes beyond all the blushing, because if it will be really yuri, it will run away from the all-girls school cliché

  4. @ warpshadow and Nelligrand- Hopefully it'll avoid anything harem-like. (The protagonist's exclusive interest in the brunette girl + yuri + the gender balance in the cast seems to be sidestepping that.) So far, at least, it looks like a potentially fun little slice-of-life ensemble comedy. :)

@ Ghost In The Shell- I agree; if we get some substantial yuri from this series, it would be refreshingly different. ^^ (Just because of the setting.)

  5. Is that Sanji in the top left hand corner?

  6. @ "The Swine Killer"- Could be. lol

  7. This anime sounds really fun! I happened to like the manager and the brunette the best. And the blonde does look like Sanji. I also think the blue-haired one resembles Ryuji from Toradora. Just a little, though, but I instantly thought about him when I saw that boy, lol.
